Panorama Views in Upper Lusatia and nearby

DE   CZ   EN   Impressum

Welcome to 'Ausblicke Oberlausitz'! At this site you can see interactive panorama views from view points in Upper Lusatia and neighbouring regions. Unlike ordinary photos you may enlarge extracts, turn within the photo into a certain direction or just let the whole panorama view pass by.

Such a panoramic view consists of hundreds of telephoto shots. A tripod with panorama head is necessary. Finally the shots are joined at a computer.

The result is a large file, that requires patience when loading, and most photo viewers won't even display it. There is no joy in that. This is where the software PanoramaStudio by Tobias Hüllmandel (https://tshsoft.de/en) comes in. It optionally creates a format, which can be displayed with the included PanoramaStudio Viewer within a website. It also enables to transcend limits, e.g. the maximum width and height of JPEG photos of about 65.000 pixels. I mention this because it was the trigger for me to start with this website.

The previews can be clicked. So the photo starts to move. You can enlarge or reduce the view by mouse wheel. F11 starts or stops full screen view. After clicking once into the panorama view you can move with the help of the direction keys and +/-. The automatic move can be stopped by any action and started again with space key. If neither mouse nor keyboard are available you perhaps can reach the white rectangle at the lower left corner an thus open a small control panel. This may help for instance at an internet capable TV.

View from Gottlöber Berg near Lauterbach

Panoramic view in early autumn from Gottlöber Berg on 27 September 2024. The view extends from Hohwald via Unger, Großer Schneeberg, Lilienstein and Stolpen to the West Lusatian Highlands with Hochstein. You can't see much more of Dresden but the TV tower, but instead the one near Ustí nad Labem in Czechia. The Collmberg near Oschatz can be seen (82 km). Approaching clouds made an end of the sunny midday.

Autumn view from Ještěd to Liberec

Autumn view from Ještěd to the city of Liberec and the neighbouring mountains 12 October 2024. This panorama contains a lot of mistakes, because the shots have been taken from different locations at the Ještěd and with varying cloud cover. By mistake the shots have been taken in JPEG instead of RAW format. Nevertheless it is still worth zooming in. Will be repeated in good weather.

View from Triebenberg to Dresden

View from Triebenberg 28 April 2024 on Eastern Erzgebirge, Dresden und Elbe River Valley until the West Lusatian Highlands. The Triebenberg belongs to the city of Dresden and is its highest point.

View from Steinberg to Röder Valley

View from Steinberg to Eastern Erzgebirge, Röder Valley and West Lusatian Highlands 14 April 2024. Despite the obvious errors I left the view at this site. While most of the landscape is already below clouds the distant mountains are still bathed in sunlight.

View near the Hunting Lodge on the Butterberg

View from near the Hunting Lodge on the Butterberg near Bischofswerda 21 September 2024. In the foreground you can see Schönbrunn, now a district of the city of Bischofswerda. A website worth reading about Schönbrunn is www.schoenbrunn-lausitz.de (in German).

View from the Hunting Lodge on the Butterberg

View from the Hunting Lodge on the Butterberg (restaurant) near Bischofswerda 08 Juli 2024 (https://jagdhuette-butterberg.de). As it is around 30°C at this day the view over the grain fields is not far away.

View from Hunting Lodge on Butterberg in April 2022.

View from the Hunting Lodge on the Butterberg on 11 April 2022. This panorama is the oldest, but also the clearest of the three. Between Bieleboh (the mountain with the viewing tower) and Picho you can see a small piece of the Jizera Mountains with the snow-covered mountain Smrk. The border between the Czech Republic and Poland runs between the two peaks Smrk and Smrek. The previous two views only show the outlines of the mountains.

View from tower at Valtenberg in June 2021

View in three parts (simply click at the arrows at the ends) from the 22 m King Johann Tower at the 586 m high Valtenberg at 6 June 2021. Still the restaurant has not been reopened yet. The surrounding trees might have grown in the meantime - from far the tower almost can't be seen.
